Regulatory Authority

Regulatory Authority: Civil Aviation Directorate within Transport Malta

The Civil Aviation Directorate is a compact yet effective directorate which forms part of the Authority for Transport in Malta responsible for land, sea and air transport; known as Transport Malta.

Centrally headquartered on the water’s edge at Valletta harbour, the Authority has appropriately chosen to retain for the Civil Aviation Directorate a base at Malta International Airport.

An efficient service from a single location is guaranteed by the Civil Aviation Directorate for all registration aspects whereas the hospitality of the staff is inimitable.

Working in strict adherence to the JAR and EASA regulatory regimes, the Civil Aviation Directorate has the necessary expertise to deal with international registries with respect to the transfer of registration of an aircraft from another jurisdiction to Malta. This is clearly demonstrated by the ever growing number of aircraft recently registered in Malta.

Aeronautica (Malta) Limited operates an office sited above the Civil Aviation Directorate at Malta International Airport with an array of facilities.

“The end goal is to create a high-value added aviation sector creating new job opportunities, added tax revenue and a growth among a cluster aviation companies and intermediaries”; Establishing a Successful Maltese Aviation Register.
